Saturn in Pisces March 2023
I most enjoy astrology as it relates to personal growth, relationships, and the navigation of everyday life. However, there are times when the skies dictate that I write about broader topics. I have been looking at a series of troubling aspects for awhile and trying to find the best way to write about them. I’ll do my best to give you a straightforward forecast without being overly alarmist or rose-colored about it.
Saturn is moving into Pisces March 7th. Saturn is definitively not happy in Neptune’s watery territory. He does not appreciate having his hard-earned boundaries and rules dissolved by the liquid emotionality of Pisces. Saturn has to endure moving through Pisces every 29 years for a two year period, so there is a breadth of history that can be associated with it. If you want to learn more about the rich and sometimes disturbing history of Saturn in Pisces, I recommend reading Jessica Davidson’s two full posts about it which are linked here and here. Her summary notes several debt forgiveness jubilees, many authoritative leaders whose desperation led to mass murder, new religious movements, developments around the use and regulation of drugs, and a number of floods and natural disasters involving water. Hollywood expressed this influence well as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet were busy filming Titanic the last time Saturn traversed Pisces 1994-1996. There are many meanings to pontificate here but I want to provide you more context about how this plays into March’s forecast specifically.
Saturn makes its shift into zero degrees Pisces March 7th, just moments after the Virgo Full Moon reaches its peak, at 6:35am. Zero degrees is the point where the script changes and there is no going back - and this time the script involves the Saturnine boundaries of our physical and social reality. We will likely feel this shift in a big way because zero degrees of any sign expresses itself with intensity and the full moon will carry these effects strongly through the month. Saturn is joining the Sun and Mercury in Pisces along with the mutable water sign’s ruler Neptune, adding more weight to this watery influence. I see Mercury as the news reporter of the solar system who, with the Sun’s support, will likely be able to deliver communications about how this shift manifests - though the narrative might be somewhat shrouded by Neptune’s deceptive creativity.
During Saturn in Pisces the things that once were stable and reliable might suddenly slip away. In addition, one or more figures of authority will likely lose power in the coming years. Overall, we will all have to learn to adapt our reality in order to swim through the nebulous waters ahead. This dynamic culminates further in 2025 when Saturn and Neptune will be conjunct in Aries.
Meanwhile, there is another more acute storm brewing as Vesta and Jupiter both approach an exact conjunction with Chiron in the fourteenth degree of Aries on March 11th. This translates to a big wounding or vulnerability for individuals, their domiciles, and their way of life. The fourteenth degree of Aries is a volatile middle degree that not only showcases aggression and acts of war, but also indicates that such acts can be tied to the accomplishments of people in power. This conjunction is square Pallas in Cancer implying that intelligence and surveillance through domestic infrastructure or in the homes of individuals has the potential to hurt people now. It’s hard to say exactly how this could manifest but mass data breaches, national security threats due to cyber insecurity, outright injury to individuals under surveillance, or harmful malfunctions of domestic smart technology are all possibilities. In addition, Saturn’s move into Pisces increases the potential for natural disasters to damage homes independent of any devious schemes involving technology. Perhaps Pallas’ role in this interpretation is that we have the knowledge to predict such disasters ahead of time or that they relate to trends that we have long seen coming. I see this aspect affecting the United States as our natal Sun is smack in the middle of this square at 13° Cancer.
Unfortunately, things only intensify in the second half of March with three Aries Points (planets in 0° of a cardinal sign) that follow this hurtful conjunction in Aries, indicating that the potential for war will be very high. Two of these Aries Points occur on the equinox March 21st - Sun in Aries and Ceres in Libra. A few days later war-prone Mars finds zero degrees Cancer at home on March 23rd. Together these three Aries points indicate a huge potential for crisis with themes involving independence, partnerships, and our domestic lives. Also on March 23rd Pluto moves into zero degrees of fixed sign Aquarius on March 23rd making for another vast shift. The last time Pluto changed signs was in the middle of the financial crisis in February of 2008. I will focus on Pluto and the second half of March in my next report.
While the time ahead stands to be very trying, there will be beautiful moments along the way. Remember that you are being encouraged to stand your ground and to hold tight to who and what you love thanks to Venus conjunct Jupiter, and several trines to Cupido, Ceres, and the Black Moon Lilith. That love will be there to ground you through any difficulties that arise.
